The camel's back has been broken; I'm back on Linux.
This time, the fact that I kind of got sick of LoL made keeping Windows useless1. It was buggy as hell, particularly the Windows search, which would take up to one minute to show and then, of course, not display what I was searching for. And I'm 99% sure my GPU was not being correctly used by LoL because, from what I remember, back when the game was playable on Linux, I'd get much better performance.
And this, coupled with Microsoft's direction to make WaaS (Windows as a Service) and an "agentic OS" - whatever the fuck that means - made Linux a no-brainer. I've had various distros as my main OS multiple times in the past, mainly Archbtw and NixOS, but now I went for CachyOS, which has some performance/gaming-oriented tweaks. And I love it.
I'm amazed at how quickly things improve in this space in such a short span, and hopefully, as adoption seems to increase in speed, more and more established software will be usable on Linux. In the past, I've mostly used Hyprland as a window manager, coupled with various launchers, bars, etc. This time, I chose Niri and Noctalia and couldn't be happier, especially since the presets the CachyOS team made are very sane.
If you haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend you do, at least to spice things up again in your digital life. The switch might require you to redo some of your workflows, but in the end, Linux is a lot more beginner-friendly than it once was.

I'll almost surely dual-boot it at some point if friends ping me for a game.↩
